- With your ears clear, we check your hearing so you know exactly where you stand. Included in the £60.

Not much to do on your side, but here is what helps.
You do not need to do anything special. If your wax is very hard or has built up over a long time, a few days of olive oil drops beforehand can make removal quicker and more comfortable, and we will tell you if that applies to you.

Your ears may feel wonderfully clear straight away. To keep them that way:
- Keep your ears dry for 24 to 48 hours
- Avoid cotton buds and other objects

When to see your GP instead.
Earwax removal is the right appointment for blocked ears. Some symptoms need a doctor first.
- Sudden hearing loss in one or both ears
- Severe ear pain or swelling
- Bleeding or discharge from the ear
- Severe dizziness or a spinning sensation
- Signs of infection, such as fever with ear pain
- An object stuck in the ear
These need your GP, NHS 111, or urgent care, not a routine wax appointment. And if we spot anything like this during your ear check, we will pause, explain what we have seen, and refer you to your GP or an ENT specialist with a letter, rather than carry on.

Not usually. If your wax is particularly hard or compacted, a few days of olive oil drops can help, and we will suggest it if we think it applies to you.
The appointment fee still applies. You are booking the full ear examination, our time and expertise, and your hearing check, not just the removal itself. If something other than wax is causing the problem, that examination is exactly how we find it.
Occasionally, very hard or heavily built up wax needs softening first. If so, we will recommend drops for a few days and arrange a follow-up to finish the job.
If we see signs of infection, a perforated eardrum, or anything else that needs a closer look, we will explain what we have found and refer you to your GP or an ENT specialist rather than proceed.
