Your care routine.
Three habits, three timescales.
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth
- Store in the case overnight
- Turn off when not in use
- Check the wax filter for blockages
- Brush away any visible debris
- Check the dome for wear or wax
- Replace the dome or wax guard
- Deeper clean at your aftercare visit

What to avoid.
The electronics are tougher than they look, but not invincible. Some parts, like custom earmoulds, can be washed separately, but the electronic body never should be. Still sounding muffled after a clean? Get in touch, it is usually a quick fix under your aftercare.
- Never use water, alcohol or chemical wipes on them
- Do not leave them somewhere hot, damp or in direct sun
- Avoid sharp tools near the microphone or receiver
- If in doubt, ask us rather than guessing
Do not just put up with it. Many issues are quick fixes, and your aftercare is included as standard, with evenings and weekends available.
Looking after them day to day.
The questions people ask once they have been wearing them a few weeks.
A wipe every night with a dry cloth or tissue, and a look at the wax filter and dome once a week. That is genuinely most of it. Never use water, alcohol wipes or cleaning sprays on a hearing aid.
Nine times out of ten it is a blocked wax filter or a blocked dome, not a fault. Change the filter, check the dome is clear, and if it is a behind-the-ear type make sure the tube has no moisture in it. If it is still quiet, bring it to us and the diagnosis is free.
Rain and sweat are fine, showers and swimming are not. Modern hearing aids are water resistant rather than waterproof. Take them out before the shower and before any sport where they might get soaked, and dry them properly if they do get wet.
Most people get four to six years from a set of hearing aids, and rechargeable batteries hold up well across that. Looking after them properly is the single biggest thing that decides which end of that range you land on.
Not usually. If you live somewhere damp, sweat heavily, or work outdoors, a simple drying pot is worth having. Ask us at your aftercare appointment and we will tell you honestly whether it would make a difference for you.
