Oticon Zeal
The most discreet hearing aid Oticon make, and the first that does not ask you to give up rechargeability or streaming to get it. Instant fit, so in most cases we can fit you the same day.
Discreet, without the compromises.
Historically, choosing a nearly invisible hearing aid meant losing three things at once: rechargeability, Bluetooth streaming, and hands-free calls. They simply would not fit in something that small. Zeal is Oticon's answer to that, and it is the reason the model exists.
There is no Zeal 1, 2 and 3.
Unlike most of the Oticon range, Zeal comes in a single specification, the top one. There is no cheaper level to step down to, so the decision is not which Zeal, but whether Zeal is the right hearing aid for you at all.
When Zeal is not the right choice.
We would rather tell you this before you get your hopes up than after you have paid.
If your loss is more than moderate
Zeal is built for mild to moderate hearing loss, occasionally moderately severe. Beyond that it physically cannot produce enough output, and a behind-the-ear aid will serve you far better.
If handling small things is difficult
It is very small, which is the entire point, but that also makes it fiddly. If arthritis or dexterity is an issue, a larger style is kinder to live with.
If you rely on hearing loops
Zeal has no telecoil, so it will not pick up loop systems in theatres, churches or ticket offices. It does support Auracast, which is gradually replacing loops, but that rollout is far from complete.
Charging and everyday use.
Roughly two hours to charge fully over USB-C. A 15-minute top-up gives about four hours, and 30 minutes gives about eight. The portable charger holds around three additional full charges, so a weekend away does not need a plug socket.
Tap control for volume, programme changes and answering calls. Instant fit means no ear impression and no wait for manufacture. In most cases we can fit you and send you home hearing better the same day.
Frequently asked questions.
It sits in the ear rather than behind it, and it is the most discreet hearing aid Oticon make. Whether it is genuinely invisible on you depends on the shape and size of your ear canal, which we check at your appointment. We will tell you honestly rather than sell you something that will show.
Usually. Zeal is an instant fit, so there is no ear impression to send away and no waiting for a custom shell to be made. If your hearing loss and ear shape suit it, we can often test, fit and send you home hearing better in one appointment.
Yes, and that is what makes Zeal unusual. Most hearing aids this discreet ask you to give up streaming and rechargeability. Zeal keeps both, including hands-free calls.
Very narrow or unusually shaped ear canals, and more severe hearing losses that need more power than a small in-ear aid can deliver. Heavy earwax can also make an in-ear style harder to live with. We check all three before recommending it.
