Choose your range first

Own SI or Own?

This is the decision that matters most, and it comes before choosing a level. The two ranges use different chips and offer different styles.

Newer chip
Oticon Own SI

The same platform as Oticon Intent, with the newest sound processing. If you want the smallest possible hearing aid and the best sound, this is the one.

  • Invisible-in-canal and completely-in-canal only
  • Best sound processing in the range
  • No Bluetooth and no app, a pure hearing aid
  • Four levels

Wider range
Oticon Own

The older platform, but all five styles. If you need an in-the-canal, half shell or full shell, or streaming matters to you, this is your option.

  • All five styles, up to a full shell
  • Bluetooth streaming and app control on the larger styles
  • Easier to handle in the larger styles
  • Five levels

The honest summary: smallest and best sound, choose Own SI and accept no Bluetooth. Larger style or streaming, choose Own. We will talk this through properly at your appointment rather than deciding it for you.

Levels, simply

The higher the level, the better in noise.

Both ranges come in levels. The higher the level, the better it copes with background noise and the more finely we can tune it to your hearing. We recommend a level after your hearing test, based on your results and how you live.

Top levels

Busy, social lives. Restaurants, meetings, family gatherings. The strongest noise handling and the most precise fitting.

Middle levels

Everyday listening with some noise. Home, television, shops, the occasional restaurant. Good value for most people.

Entry levels

Quiet, mostly home-based listening. One-to-one conversation and television. Genuine entry-level hearing aids, and we will say so plainly if one is right for your budget.

The five styles

Which style, and what it will do.

01
Invisible-in-canal (IIC) Own or Own SI

Mild to moderately severe loss. The most discreet fit, no Bluetooth.

02
Completely-in-canal (CIC) Own or Own SI

Mild to moderately severe loss. Very discreet, no Bluetooth.

03
In-the-canal (ITC) Own only

Mild to severe loss. Bluetooth streaming.

04
Half shell (ITE) Own only

Mild to severe loss. Easier to handle, Bluetooth streaming.

05
Full shell (ITE) Own only

Mild to severe loss. The easiest to handle, Bluetooth streaming, longest battery.

The smallest styles use a size 10 battery and the larger ones a size 312, which lasts longer. Smaller also means fiddlier to handle, worth thinking about honestly if your dexterity is not what it was. Want rechargeable in-the-ear? Look at Oticon Zeal.

Frequently asked questions.

No. The custom shell is how the whole Own range works, so the ear impression and the made-to-measure fit are included in the price. You pay for the technology level, exactly as you would with any other hearing aid.

We take an impression of your ear at your first appointment, and the hearing aids are built to that shape and sent back to us, usually inside a couple of weeks. Then you come back, or we come to you, for the fitting.

It depends on your hearing loss, the size and shape of your ear canal, and how easily you handle small objects. Invisible-in-canal is the most discreet but the fiddliest and the least powerful. A full shell is the easiest to handle and the most powerful. We will show you the options against your own ear.

No. Own SI is the most compact version and streaming is the thing it gives up. If Bluetooth matters to you, one of the slightly larger Own styles keeps it.
