Starkey Edge AI
The previous flagship, still in the range, and at the top tier, arguably better value in noise than the newer Omega AI at the same money. Three levels.
Edge AI 24 vs Omega AI 20.
This is the comparison we find ourselves making most often with Starkey, and it is the sort of thing you will not hear from someone tied to selling the newest thing. At similar money, Edge AI 24 gives you nearly double the noise reduction of Omega AI 20.
Older chip, but the full noise handling and wind reduction, plus the complete health suite and automatic tuning.
Newer chip, but the noise reduction drops to roughly half, and there are no neural network features at this tier anyway.
Omega AI 24 is genuinely better than both. But if the budget stops short of it, do not assume the newer range automatically wins. We will work through it with you on the day rather than defaulting to whatever launched last.
Which Edge AI suits you?
The higher the level, the better it copes with noise and the more finely we can tune it. We recommend a level after your hearing test.
The full noise handling and the complete health suite. At the same money, arguably better in noise than the newer Omega AI 20.
- Strongest noise handling
- Voice assistant
- Full health features
Roughly half the noise reduction of the 24, with the full health suite. Sensible for a mix of quiet and moderately busy environments.
- Good noise handling
- Full health features
- Edge Mode+ included
Home, one-to-one, television. Fine for a quieter life, but it will struggle in sustained background noise.
- Light noise handling

Styles, battery and connectivity.
Receiver-in-canal with telecoil, a smaller micro rechargeable, custom in-the-canal, half shell, in-the-ear and completely-in-canal, plus a disposable-battery receiver-in-canal. Exceptionally long battery life on the rechargeable styles, 6 to 8 days on disposables. Waterproof to a metre on the rechargeable styles.
Whatever some listings suggest, there is no invisible-in-canal in this range. That is the Signature Series.
Bluetooth LE Audio, iPhone and Android, telecoil available, Apple Watch support through the My Starkey app, and CROS compatibility. StarLink accessories for television, table and remote microphones.
The neural network steering the microphones arrived with Omega AI and is not something Edge AI can be updated to. Auracast was listed as ready but pending firmware. We will confirm the current position rather than assume.
Frequently asked questions.
Because the top level of Edge AI is often better in noise than a middle level of the newer Omega AI at the same price. Technology level usually matters more than model year, and we would rather get you the better result than the newer badge.
It is the standout. Edge AI holds a charge notably longer than most rechargeables, which matters if you are out all day, stream a lot, or simply do not want to think about charging.
Step and activity tracking, fall detection with alerts, and reminders, through the Starkey app. Useful if you would use them, irrelevant if you would not. They do not add to the price.
Yes. It remains in the current range rather than being discontinued, and we service and adjust it exactly as we would the newest model. Aftercare is included for as long as you own them.
