The short version

What Intent does differently.

Most hearing aids react to the sound around you. Intent also reads what you are doing, whether your head is turning, whether you are walking, whether you are in conversation, and adjusts how much help it gives you based on that. Oticon call it 4D Sensor technology, and it is the single biggest reason to choose Intent over a cheaper Oticon.

Four levels, one hearing aid

Which Intent suits you?

All four are the same physical hearing aid. The higher the level, the better it copes with noise and the more finely we can tune it. We recommend a level after your hearing test, based on your results and how you live.

Intent 1
Busiest lives

Restaurants, meetings, family gatherings, anywhere with a lot going on. The only level with the full sound range, so it suits music lovers too.

  • Reads how you move and listen (4D Sensor)
  • Strongest noise handling
  • Most precise fitting to your hearing

Intent 2
Best value for active people

Out and about regularly, but not constantly in difficult rooms. For most active people this is the sensible level.

  • Reads how you move and listen (4D Sensor)
  • Strong noise handling
  • Very precise fitting

Intent 3
Everyday listening

Home, television, shops, the occasional restaurant. Does the job well day to day, you will notice it in a genuinely noisy room.

  • No 4D Sensor
  • Moderate noise handling
  • Good fitting precision

Intent 4
Quiet, mostly at home

One-to-one conversation and television. Not the level to choose if background noise is your main complaint.

  • No 4D Sensor
  • Light noise handling
  • Basic fitting precision

Frequently asked questions.

Often, yes. Intent is a very capable hearing aid and is now the previous flagship rather than a poor relation. For a lot of people the sensible choice is a higher level of Intent rather than an entry level of the newest range, because technology level usually matters more than model year.

They read head movement and body movement alongside the sound around you, so the hearing aid can tell the difference between you turning to talk to someone and simply walking through a noisy room. It then adjusts what it emphasises. It is the feature that made Intent distinctive.

The hearing aid itself is identical. What changes is how much of the noise handling and how many adjustment bands you get. Intent 1 gives the most help in difficult listening; Intent 4 is the entry point. We will recommend a level based on your hearing test and where you actually struggle.

No, Intent is rechargeable only. If you would rather not charge a hearing aid at all, tell us at your appointment and we will show you what we fit that still uses disposable batteries.
